The Ancia Saxophone Quartet program will feature a wide range of delightful musical works from the Baroque to Jazz and Cuban for audiences of all ages, including “Sonata No. 44,” by Italian Baroque composer Domenico Scarlatti, “Variations on ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’” by Viennese master Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, “Theme and Variations” by Russian romanticist Alexander Glazunov, “Fantasy Etudes for Saxophone Quartet” by 20th Century American composer William Albright, Latin-jazz inspired “Monk-Tuno” by Cuban saxophonist/composer Paquito D’Rivera, and Fred Sturm’s arrangement of “Blackbottom Stomp,” by legendary jazz pianist/composer Ferdinand “Jelly Roll” Morton.

Based in Minneapolis-St. Paul, the quartet has performed concerts and presentededucational workshops in the United States, Canada, Korea, and Europe.The Ancia Saxophone Quartet has appeared frequently on Minnesota Public Radio.
The group’s first compact disc, Variations, available on this website, includes selections by Gershwin, Bach, and Duke Ellington along with music composed especially for the quartet. A second CD, Short Stories, was just released internationally on Naxos featuring American composers Higdon, Ives, Torke, Sturm, Macy, Bixler, and "Jelly Roll" Morton.
The Ancia Saxophone Quartet has premiered many compositions written expressly for the group, including commissions underwritten by the American Composers Forum/Jerome Foundation and THE Commission Project.
