Artist Bios:

Carolyn Liptak obtained her violin performance degree from the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, IL. Her teaching career began at the Kenneth Warren School of Violin Making where she taught private violin lessons. She went on to play for four years with the Savannah Symphony in Savannah, Georgia. While in Savannah, Carolyn started the first string program in the public school system. She took a leave from the symphony to study 8 months with Detlef Hahn, professor of violin at the Guild Hall of Music in London, England. Upon her return she decided to move back to her home town, Minneapolis, where she began a career as a freelance violinist and teacher. Since that time she has been busy with a full time teaching schedule, playing and running the Cavelle Chamber Ensembles, playing with the Northern Lights String Quartet, performing as a member of Thursday Musical and playing various freelance jobs.

Norma Gobran served as Principal Cellist of the St. Paul Civic Symphony for 22 years, retiring from that position several years ago in order to spend more time performing solo works and presenting chamber music recitals. Her musical training was in her childhood home, Los Angeles, where she studied with Doris Savery, William Van den Burg and Gabor Rejto.  She has appeared frequently as soloist with the St. Paul Civic Symphony.  In addition to musical activities, Norma was a product development chemist at 3M, retiring several years ago.  She has a B.S. Degree in Chemistry from the University of Southern California.

Marianne Bryan is the current President of the Minnesota Music Teachers Association. She earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Music degree in piano performance with highest honors from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Her teaching experience includes 20 years at the University of St.Thomas. A frequent performer both as soloist and collaborative artist, Dr. Bryan has performed at the Ordway Theatre, Walker Arts Center, Northrup Auditorium, Temple Israel, and the Cathedral of St. Mark as well as on the live radio broadcasts “Live from Landmark” from St. Paul and “Noontime at Hochstein” in New York.
