Artist Bios
Elizabeth Karelse (1984) was finalist of the Dutch Petrof Piano Competition at the age of nine. In 1996, she was admitted to the Conservatory of Rotterdam, where she studied with Mila Baslawskaja and she entered the ‘Young Talent Class’ of the Royal Conservatory of the Netherlands in The Hague in 1998. Here, she studied with Marcel Baudet and Marlies van Gent. Elizabeth performed for the Dutch Queen Beatrix and the Japanese Emperor and Empress during their state visit to the Netherlands in May 2000. She became prizewinner of the Dutch Interprovincial Music Competition and was awarded first prize in the National Music Competition for Young People of the Netherlands in December 2000. As a result of this, she was able to give several performances in, amongst others, the concert halls of Amsterdam (Concertgebouw) -broadcasted live by national radio- and Rotterdam (De Doelen). Elizabeth participated in the festival of the International Keyboard Institute at Mannes College of Music in New York in the summers of 2001 and 2002, where she studied with Pedro Carbone, Pavlina Dokovska, Vladislav Kovalsky, Mordecai Shehori, Alexander Volkov, Vladimir Shakin, Irina Morozova, Mykola Suk and Jerome Rose. She won both regional and national finals of the Princes Christina Competition in 2002, which gave her the opportunity to perform in Carnegie Hall, New York. Another result was, performing the 3rd Beethoven concerto with the Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands. Elizabeth participated in the summer course of the VIP-academy (Vienna International Pianists) in the summer of 2003, after which she gave several concerts in Helsinki, Finland. In the summer of 2004, she returned to Vienna to study at the Universität fur Musik und Darstellende Kunst with prof.Alexander Braginsky. Elizabeth obtained her teaching degree (cum laude) in December 2004 and graduated with a BA in solo piano performance in May 2005 from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague under the guidance of Ellen Corver. She moved to America in the summer of 2005 to study with Alexander Braginsky at the International Piano Institute at Hamline University. She is currently also enrolled in Graduate Liberal Studies at Hamline University. Elizabeth participated in the Schubert Club Scholarship competition this April. She obtained second prize, winning $1500.
Erin Moore was a 2002 Schubert Club winner. She studied for two years at the Kunst Universitat in Graz, Austria with Yair Kless, and is currently completing her bachelors degree in violin performance at the University of Minnesota. She plans to pursue a graduate degree in violin performance next year. |
