The Schubert Club’s New Executive Director

SAINT PAUL, MN—The Schubert Club is proud to announce that Kathleen van Bergen has been chosen as its new Executive Director. 

Ms. van Bergen comes to The Schubert Club with a wealth of experience in the musical world. A native of Andover, New Jersey, she holds a bachelor of music degree in violin studies from the Eastman School and an executive master of business administration degree from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.   Ms. van Bergen spent over five years with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra where she rose quickly to Vice President and Director of Artistic Administration, the top administrative artistic position.  Ms. van Bergen joined The Philadelphia Orchestra Association as Vice President of Artistic Planning in December 2004.  She was responsible for working collaboratively with Music Director Christoph Eschenbach, the Orchestra’s Artistic Advisory Committee, and other members of the management team to guide the artistic direction and program planning decisions of The Philadelphia Orchestra.
 
The Schubert Club is excited to be entering a new era under the leadership of Ms. van Bergen.  As Minnesota’s oldest arts organization, The Schubert Club is confident that Ms. van Bergen will continue the tradition of cultural excellence that has characterized this organization for the past 125 years.  Ms. van Bergen writes, "I am deeply honored to be entrusted with leading a Saint Paul institution that has brought world-class music to the rich cultural fabric of the Twin Cities for 125 years.  I look forward to working with an incredibly dedicated staff and board to support and nurture The Schubert Club in the next chapter of its illustrious story."

Ms. van Bergen will replace interim executive director Sharon Carlson who has been ably managing  The Schubert Club since August 2006.  Ms. van Bergen will begin directing The Schubert Club full-time in early spring.
