Master Classes

Each year The Schubert Club co-sponsors master classes with area music organizations, colleges and universities.


Music Instruction

Project CHEER: A program of free music lessons offered to young students at the Martin Luther King Center in St. Paul.


Composer Mentorship Program

Three high-school student composers in the greater Twin Cities area are selected to work with Schubert Club composer-in-residence Edie Hill for the coming academic year. The students meet individually with Dr. Hill for lessons in composition, guided listening, notation, and repertoire.


Music Therapy

The Schubert Club recognizes the therapeutic value of music. Every third Wednesday of the month, it sponsors a concert for patients and staff at United Hospital in Saint Paul. The Schubert Club also offers scholarships to students of music therapy at Augsburg College and the University of Minnesota. Call 651-292-3267 for more information.

School Residencies and Community Classes with Indonesian Gamelan Instruments

Students can discover one of the great cultural traditions of the world playing on The Schubert Club's orchestra of gamelan instruments. The Schubert Club gamelan program provides instruments for classes and workshops in gamelan, as well as school residencies that culminate in performance. These activities are now being administered through the Indonesian Performing Arts Association of Minnesota. For more information, please call 612-729-6737 .


Scholarships

Student Scholarship Competition: The Schubert Club Student Scholarship Competition, held each April, awards about $50,000 annually to young musicians.

Jazz Piano Scholarship Competition: The Schubert Club and The Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education award three finalists with scholarships and the opportunity to perform at The Dakota Jazz Club.

MMTA-JCI Scholarships: Winners, grades 9 to 12, in the annual Minnesota Music Teachers Association Composition Competition are offered scholarships to attend the summer Junior Composers Institute.


Special Grants

The Schubert Club offers grants to serious, talented music students in need of financial assistance to further their musical development.
