About the Composer Mentorship Program

Each spring, talented high-school student composers in the greater Twin Cities area will be selected to work with The Schubert Club's composer-in-residence Edie Hill for the coming academic year.

The mentorship involves monthly individual sessions, as well as opportunities for the group to get together as a whole. Specific topics and the times of the individual sessions are arranged jointly, based on each student's interests and availability, and may deal with: notation, guided listening, composition, and repertoire. Group meetings will occasionally include attendance at local performances, rehearsals, and workshops. In addition, a piece by each composer apprentice will be considered for performance on The Schubert Club's Thursday Courtroom Concert series, and each apprentice will receive a complimentary one-year membership to the American Composers Forum.

The mentorship program is offered free of charge to each selected composer and is sponsored in part by the HRK Foundation.

The May 1, 2008 deadline has passed

Please check back in January, 2009 for new application instructions.
